Oslo-based and Ethiopian-focused gold producer Akobo Minerals said 27 June it has completed the construction of its processing plant and has kicked off commissioning activities for the new facility.
Work on the tailings storage facility (TSF) and diesel infrastructure is now done, along with electrical work and piping at the site. Working alongside Universal Power Africa and Solo Resources, it is now rolling out its commissioning plan. The mill commissioning is complete and it is now running, along with the facility’s conveyor belts and crusher.
Akobo has retained DRA Global to help it minimize operational risks and boost its mining operations.
The company said it is progressing toward its goal of gold processing this month. Looking ahead, Akobo is also planning a lab and office space.
